A baseline bloodwork up is always helpful to determine if there is a pre-existing condition. We also offer a special test to determine if a pet has kidney disease before even symptoms show up.
Your pet's blood results will also determine if your pet can tolerate certain medications.
Bloodwork is also required if your pet needs to go under anesthesia for any reason.
Sampling a urine sample will indicate if there is an infection, kidney disease or simply your pet is becoming incontinent.
Our senior pets (> 7 years) typically will require extra attention since they can
develop more problems including heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, bleeding disorders, cancer, etc.
We like to recommend twice a year examination for our elderly patients and always like to follow up some of our patients that have been diagnosed with a serious condition.
Call us to schedule an appointment for us to see and discuss the needs for your senior pet.
